🇬🇧 Most people think birds are the only true flyers. But we bats have been ruling the skies for millions of years — not with feathers, but with our own fingers!
Take a closer look at my wing, and you’ll see something surprising: it actually looks a lot like a human arm. I have a humerus, radius, ulna, and even five fingers — just like you do. The big difference? My fingers are long and stretched, and between them stretches a thin layer of skin, like a living sail. That’s what gives my wing its shape.
🇷🇴 Mulți cred că păsările sunt singurele creaturi care pot zbura cu adevărat. Dar noi, liliecii, stăpânim cerul de milioane de ani – cu aripi creând prin propriile noastre degete!
Dacă te uiți mai atent la aripa mea, vei observa ceva surprinzător: seamănă foarte mult cu un braț uman. Am și eu humerus, radius, ulna și chiar cinci degete – exact ca tine. Diferența? Degetele mele sunt foarte lungi și între ele se întinde o piele subțire, ca o pânză vie. Din asta este formată aripa mea.
🇷🇴 Imaginează-ți că ții o eșarfă de mătase între vârfurile degetelor și o întinzi până la cot – exact așa este și aripa mea. Degetele II. până la V. sunt ca niște “bare” lungi care susțin această membrană. Primul deget – „degetul mare” – l-am păstrat liber pentru agățare și cățărare.

🇷🇴 Spre deosebire de mine, păsările au aripi foarte diferite. Oasele mâinii lor sunt sudate, iar zborul lor se bazează pe pene. Sunt excelente la planare, dar eu? Sunt un maestru al manevrelor – pot vira brusc și chiar pot dormi cu capul în jos!
🇬🇧 Compare that to birds: their wings are very different. Their hand bones are fused, and they rely on feathers to fly. They’re great at gliding, but me? I’m a master of maneuvering — I can twist, turn, hover, and even sleep upside down.
🇷🇴 Și oamenii? Brațele lor sunt făcute pentru a apuca și a mânui obiecte. Degetele lor sunt scurte și agile – perfecte pentru unelte, dar nu pentru zbor. Eu însă… zbor chiar cu propriile mele degete.
🇬🇧 And humans? Your arms are for grabbing, not flying. Your fingers are short and nimble — great for tools, not takeoff. But me? I soar with mine.
